Lilian + Gary: Epic rave at Shoreditch Studios with sequins, neons, cocktail bar + drag acts

Lilian and Gary were one of the lucky couples to have a 2020 wedding date, before the world went in lockdown. What a party it was too.

Hosted by drag queen and unlike any wedding set we hosted before (which we love). Neon lights and clear plastic chairs. A huge cocktail bar in Studio 1 under the white wall and an evening  of drag entertainment on stage  in Studio 2. A party to remember!

“We wanted to celebrate who we are and our special life in London, so instead of the traditional wedding we curated a bit of a rave in Shoreditch Studios, an East London rail tunnel. We just never saw ourselves as being ‘walk down the aisle’ types, or having a lovey-dovey ceremony, or a big fancy dinner.”

Louise & Oli: Inspiring Couple, Inspiring Story, Must Read

It’s hard not to get emotional when reading about Louise’s and Oli’s wedding. Louise was diagnosed with cancer just 4 months before their wedding. Instead of postponing, the couple forged ahead with their wedding day as planned.

“With the build-up to our day having a slightly different focus, my health, I was so pleased we were organised from the start. Relax, your day will be incredible, everything comes together and it’s amazing how family and your nearest will collect around you when you need them most.”

Anne & Chris 1920-1950’s Vintage Themed Wedding

Some couples are just perfect for a dry hire venue like Shoreditch Studios. Anne & Chris got stuck in from day one of planning making up a chart of everything that makes them happy, both as individuals and as a couple, and that became the starting point for all of their wedding planning decisions. They had so many ideas and themes to incorporate so they actually changed over Studio 2 several times to make use off all the props they bought. First it was set-up as a 1940’s pub ‘The Cablemakers Arms’, later after the reception meal, Studio 2 was transformed into ‘Spokes Music Hall’. Such a unique weddign day, so much preparation went into every detail and it would be a wedding unlike any that their friends and family had ever attended.

“Thanks to Rock My Wedding, we discovered Shoreditch Studios. Crucially, Shoreditch Studios has two rooms. This meant that our guests would be in one for the ceremony, then the other for pre-meal drinks, back through for dinner and then back out again for the evening festivities.

We loved the idea of having the opportunity to surprise our guests not once, but several times! We ignored everyone’s advice and didn’t physically look anywhere else. We knew Shoreditch Studios fitted the bill perfectly. Dan, Andrew, Maree and the whole team were open to all of our ideas (even the crazy ones!) and were incredibly flexible and supportive.”
